High school math. That’s the goal, right? This course is a great way to brush up on the skills needed to dive into high school algebra. Each week, the focus will be on boosting ability and confidence in key areas of beginning algebra. Those topics include integers, rational numbers, equations & inequalities, ratios, percents, & proportions, functions & graphing, exponents & powers, and geometric figures.

Designed to enhance current understanding, activities in Pre-Algebra Review (Self-Paced) provide multiple avenues for practice. Students can improve their mathematical abilities by engaging with the daily digital assignments, fun activities, and pre-recorded instructional videos

Please note that no textbook will be required as the instructor will provide all needed materials.

Who should enroll?

Students looking to enter high school-level algebra and who desire to reinforce their pre-algebra knowledge will be the best candidates for this course. They should understand this is a review course, and as such, the shortened timeframe will require daily attention to assignments.

Prerequisites

Students in this course must have completed, or nearly completed, a pre-algebra course or 7th-grade mathematics course.

Technology Requirements

  • TI-84 Graphing Calculator (or any version in the 83/84 series)
  • High-speed, broadband Internet
  • Streaming video capabilities to watch instructional videos
  • Scanner or smartphone to scan and upload any printed or pencil-and-paper work

Evaluation and Feedback

Since this is a short course, students are expected to submit all assignments on time. Accordingly, student feedback will be returned either immediately via the digital platform or within 48 hours by the instructor. Students can earn a certificate of completion upon completion of this course.
