Course Description

Founded in 2020, the AIM Academy French Club is organized and run by the students. Our aim is to explore France and other Francophone countries through their language and culture. Topics at the monthly meetings are chosen and presented by members of the group. The club meets monthly on Zoom. Each month, theme-related activities will be posted on Canvas for students to explore on their own.

A monthly Movie Night has become a favorite activity.

The President is elected at the close of the year while all other officers are elected in the fall of the next year, providing students with opportunities to serve in leadership positions.

This club is offered at no charge to students enrolled in Mme Barstow’s French 3 or French 4/5 courses. The cost of the Club is included in the Course fee.

The French Club is open to ALL students enrolled in French 1-4. (8th grade and up) as well as students who are simply interested in French culture and speaking the French language. The course is open to non-Aim Academy students who fit this description.

Sally Barstow

An interest in learning and my love of French have woven together in my life to feed my love of teaching. I recall with fondness the 14 years I homeschooled my two youngest children. Today I proudly continue working with homeschoolers, opening up to them the mysteries of the French language. My interest in French was birthed in my desire to connect with my family in Belgium. I enjoy sharing with my students that I began learning French in high school, like many of them are doing. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of not only visiting my Belgian family, but hosting students from French speaking countries, only to later visit them and their families in their home countries.
