Course Description
This full-year course is designed to familiarize students with basic Spanish vocabulary and grammar in a variety of familiar settings and situations. Each week will have a different topic (at home, around town, at the beach, etc.), and will use pictures, stories, songs, games, and videos to help students learn and practice. Students can take this course for multiple years, as topics will rotate every two to three years. In this way, students can build on their Spanish skills and prepare for middle and high-school-level courses.
Students may also register for each semester of this course separately. Choose the appropriate option from the drop-down menu when registering for the class.
Course Structure
Classes will generally follow a similar format that will include reviewing vocabulary, watching a video and/or reading a story related to the week’s topic, playing games, singing songs, etc. Students will typically be given a task to do during the week, which they may be asked to share with the class the next week.
Who Should Enroll?
This class is designed for elementary-age students, with or without previous experience in Spanish. Parents should consult the teacher prior to enrolling a student younger than 3rd grade.
- High-speed internet, computer, and webcam are required for participating in weekly live classes.
Evaluation and Feedback
Feedback will primarily be supportive rather than corrective. The class strives to maintain an enjoyable and encouraging atmosphere.
