The Language Arts Lab is a weekly “virtual hangout” where Literature and Composition 8/9 or 9/10 students receive individualized assistance from their instructor and collaboration time with peers. During this weekly 60-minute session, Mrs. Cook meets with students to correct homework and tests, engage in personalized writing conferences, and tackle challenging literary, vocabulary, or grammatical skills. Together, we dig deeper into literature, polish our rough drafts, and complete vocabulary and grammar exercises. Through lab time, Mrs. Cook reinforces and enriches concepts taught in her course.
In addition, students will learn and practice effective time management and organizational strategies. Language Arts Lab 8/9/10 is an optional, though highly recommended add-on to the Literature and Composition 8/9 or Literature and Composition 9/10 courses.
We have created Language Arts Labs for Mrs. Cook’s middle school and high school English courses to give parents an additional option to ensure their students acquire strong writing and reading comprehension skills for upper-level high school work while also learning time management and study skills.
