This club will meet once a month on the third Thursday at 4:00 PM ET.
The Creative Writing Club is a place for students to expand their writing skills, as well as try new methods of telling a story or writing a poem. Since this is a club and not a graded class, students can experiment with various writing styles without worrying about submission deadlines and grades. Bottom line: this is a place to foster creativity and have fun with fellow Aim Academy students. In addition to the writing completed during the club meeting time, students will have the chance to share work they have written elsewhere. Peer evaluations and suggestions will be highly encouraged. Learning to accept feedback on one’s writing and also how to give feedback to others is a valuable skill students will need as they head to college.
The Creative Writing Club will meet once a month to provide a safe and energized place to share one’s written work. Students will continue to develop their own writing style while also trying their hand at new ways to begin a story, learning how to develop characters, and finding out what works and what does not when playing with words.
Games, story prompts, and writing suggestions offered by students will be some of the ways writers will get their creative juices flowing during our club meetings.
Who should register?
Students who enjoy writing or perhaps those who have thought about writing something other than what is required for a class but have not had the chance to do so will find this club a safe place to experiment with new ideas and a variety of writing styles. Students will help lead this club and offer ideas, inspirations, and encouragement to their peers.
