Readers In Residence
Readers in Residence is a reading comprehension, literature, and vocabulary program for homeschool students and parents. It may be used alone or in conjunction with the Writers in Residence series. Together the two programs provide a full year of language arts curriculum. While studying some of the finest books in children’s literature, students learn to recognize the elements of literature (e.g., plot, characterization, theme), read for inference, deduce the meaning of unknown words from context clues, and identify figures of speech. In volume 1, students study Sarah, Plain and Tall; Charlotte’s Web; and Because of Winn-Dixie. They also complete an in-depth study of three additional books of their choice.
