Description

This club meets every Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM ET during the school year. It does not meet during AAO breaks.

The Minecraft club is an exciting, social space where junior high and high school students can connect, compete, and collaborate through the world of Minecraft, all in a safe and structured environment. Our platforms include our own personal survival multiplayer (SMP) server and the popular Hypixel server, which features a wide variety of mini-games, such as Bed Wars, SkyWars, Murder Mystery, Build Battle, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, there’s something here for everyone! While Minecraft is our main focus, we will explore other multiplayer online games in the future, based on student interest and with parental approval.

This club isn’t just about gaming—it’s about building community and character. Students will strengthen important skills like teamwork, communication, creative problem-solving, and good sportsmanship. Weekly activities may include strategy sessions, competitive challenges, and opportunities for leadership. Members will also learn how to be respectful and responsible participants in online spaces, helping them grow as digital citizens.

Some of our favorite club activities include:

  • Team Strategy Sessions – Players group up for games like Bed Wars or SkyWars and work together to plan defenses, manage resources, and develop winning strategies.
  • Build Battle Challenges – Students compete in fast-paced building competitions based on a theme, then share and discuss their designs with the group.
  • Community Votes & Event Nights – Occasionally, members vote on which game modes to play or help organize special events, such as friendly tournaments or themed game nights with fun recognition.
  • Whether you’re looking to improve your skills, make new friends, or just unwind on a Friday night, this club is a great place to do it—all in a positive, inclusive environment led by AAO alumni who love gaming just as much as you do!

Club Structure

Students will meet over Zoom every Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (ET) in a secure, supervised online session. Attendance is not mandatory, and no work is required outside of meetings. Each week, we’ll play on Hypixel or the club’s private SMP server, rotating through mini-games like Bed Wars, SkyWars, and Build Battle. Meetings begin with a quick overview of goals and a reminder about respectful play and online safety.

Who should register?

This club is for 8th graders and up who enjoy gaming, teamwork, and friendly competition in a positive, structured setting. Whether you’re new to Hypixel or a seasoned Minecraft player, you’ll connect with others, build strategies, and strengthen communication and leadership skills. No experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and have fun on Friday nights!

Technology Required

  • A computer or laptop capable of running Minecraft: Java Edition
  • A stable internet connection
  • Valid Minecraft: Java Edition account with access to multiplayer servers.
  • Working microphone and headphones, or speakers.
  • Webcam (optional)

Communication

While the Minecraft club is all about having fun, students will also get regular shout-outs and friendly feedback based on their teamwork, participation, and creativity during club activities. Club leaders will celebrate awesome sportsmanship, leadership moments, clever problem-solving, and positive communication, whether it’s with quick praises during game nights or fun messages afterward to keep the good vibes going!

The club leaders will be available throughout the week via email to answer questions, address concerns, or support students with technical issues or gameplay goals. Parents are welcome to reach out at any time for updates on their child’s participation or progress within the club.

Students will receive an Aim Academy email address to communicate through Google Chat between game nights.
