Personalized academic support from experienced Aim Academy Online teachers.
🎓 Online Tutoring
Sometimes a student needs more individualized help than a classroom setting can provide. Aim Academy Online offers one-on-one online tutoring with experienced teachers in a variety of subjects and grade levels.
Students may meet with a tutor for help with a particular assignment or concept, preparation for an upcoming test, continued support throughout a course, or more focused skill development.
Tutoring is available both to students currently enrolled in Aim Academy Online classes and to students studying through another homeschool program, school, or curriculum.
🧭How Tutoring Works
All tutoring sessions are conducted live online using Zoom or another video conferencing platform selected by the tutor. Students should have a reliable internet connection, a microphone, and, when possible, a webcam. Tutors may also use digital whiteboards, shared documents, or screen sharing to make instruction interactive.
If you have already contacted an Aim Academy Online teacher and agreed on a tutoring schedule, rate, and number of hours, you may purchase your tutoring hours directly.
When ordering, select the teacher with whom you have made arrangements and enter the number of one-hour tutoring blocks you would like to purchase.
A one-hour block may be divided into shorter sessions, such as two 30-minute sessions or three 20-minute sessions, when arranged in advance with the tutor.
Complete our Tutoring Request Form and tell us a little about your student, the subject in which help is needed, and your scheduling preferences.
We will review your request and determine whether we have a tutor whose experience and availability are a good match. Once a tutor has been identified, the tutor will contact you to discuss your student’s needs, scheduling, and next steps.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a tutor will be available. Tutor availability varies by subject, level, and time of year.
Tutoring may be available in areas such as:
- Elementary and middle school math
- Prealgebra through precalculus
- High school and AP mathematics
- Biology, chemistry, physics, and AP sciences
- Grammar, composition, essay writing, and literature
- Reading comprehension
- History, government, economics, and geography
- French, Spanish, and Chinese
- AP course support
- SAT English preparation
Availability varies. Complete the Tutoring Request Form if you do not already have an arrangement with one of our teachers.
Tutoring rates currently range from $65 to $100 per hour, depending on the tutor, subject, and level of instruction.
Your tutor or Aim Academy Online will confirm the applicable hourly rate before you purchase tutoring hours.
Tutoring hours must be purchased before tutoring sessions take place unless other payment arrangements have been approved.
The first meeting gives the tutor, parent, and student an opportunity to discuss the student’s needs and determine how tutoring can be most helpful.
Depending on the student and subject, the tutor may:
- Review the student’s current course or curriculum
- Identify specific concepts or skills that need attention
- Discuss short-term and long-term goals
- Recommend how often the student should meet
- Explain what the student should bring or prepare for future sessions.
Parents are encouraged to share relevant assignments, course materials, teacher feedback, or other information that will help the tutor prepare.
Tutoring sessions are scheduled directly with the tutor.
Tutoring may be arranged as:
- A single session
- Short-term help with a particular topic
- Weekly or biweekly meetings
- Ongoing support throughout a course
- Sessions scheduled as needed
Scheduling options depend on tutor availability.
Tutoring sessions must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as sessions the student does not attend, may be deducted from the family’s purchased tutoring hours.
Tutors may make exceptions for emergencies at their discretion.
Families planning to use charter school, education scholarship, or other third-party funds should indicate this on the Tutoring Request Form.
Any required purchase order or funding authorization must be received and approved before tutoring sessions begin. Families should not purchase tutoring hours directly through the website when payment will be made by a charter school or scholarship program unless instructed to do so by Aim Academy Online.
Tutoring provides supplemental academic support and does not constitute enrollment in an Aim Academy Online course.
Tutoring alone does not earn course credit, a transcript grade, or an Aim Academy Online course completion certificate.
Tutors may assist students in understanding concepts, developing skills, and reviewing their work. Tutors will not complete assignments for students or provide answers to graded assessments.
